Hi Everyone

A few weeks ago, I wrote about our forthcoming Strategic Planning activities and events for MSLSC. In the last few weeks these have begun with separate meetings of our Life members and Masters members.

It is great to move away from the everyday, and matters that are ‘here and now’, and consider the ‘big picture’ future of MSLSC.

It was great to catch up and consult with some of our highly valued and more experienced members, as a start to this process. It was evident that these groups were able to provide great insight and perspective on the Club, past, present and (potential) future. Some of the common observations and discussions so far include:

• The size of the Club (2000+ currently. Too big, too small ??)
• Our structures (governance, management etc)
• Our Club’s key mission and goal
• The contemporary nature of volunteerism
• Sunday Club days
• The induction of new members
• Mentoring including youth members and others into ‘potential’ Club roles
• The future of our facility – capacity, needs, expansion
• The Ocean Reef Marina and implications for MSLSC
• The recent Draft Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP)

These represent some great discussion points moving forward. In the next few weeks/months there will be other opportunities to engage with this discussion including a Club survey that will be coming your way. This is based on the same Club survey that we ran in 2019. It will provide us with a point of comparison and a picture of where we are now and what progress or not that we have made, moving into the next phase of the Club.

Please take the time to involve yourself with the process and opportunities as they arise.
