To support and raise awareness for youth mental health, Rob will be rowing 8,358 km to Africa.
For two years, Rob’s daughter Jess struggled with depression and anxiety. However, she wasn’t aware that was what she was dealing with until March 2021, when everything became too much for her and she attempted to take her life.
Since then, Rob has often asked himself “how had I not picked up on signs that she was struggling?” and has realised how important it is to learn how to have conversations with loved ones about mental health. He hopes there are some who can take inspiration from Jess, who in allowing her story to be shared, will give others who may be struggling the courage to seek help sooner.
zero2hero is a WA based youth mental health charity that educates, engages and empowers thousands of young people a year to support and maintain their mental health and prevent suicide in their communities.
