The marathon was introduced by the Clubs second president, Ted Scott in 1969 to challenge the lifesavers of the day to be able to save lives from any part of Mullaloo’s patrolling coastline. Mullaloo currently patrols from Whitfords point to Ocean Reef marina, a distance of 4.5 km’s. He created a marathon event which included a number of running and swimming sections along the patrolling coastline. Today the event has various modified distances to cater for all our members from Nippers through to Masters.
Meet at Hillarys Beach, located north of the Boat Carpark (see map), at 7.45am for our group photo. Then we will set off with all our Christmas splendour at 8am to paddle back to Mullaloo!
For those of you who would rather sand between your toes, there will be a Christmas Fun Run along the beach from the same start point of Hillarys Beach and along the beach to Mullaloo.
Following the paddle – Brekkie at 9am on the Club’s sundeck. Come and check out the new shade sails and BBQ!
Please bring your own food and clean up after!
