Message from Club President, Andy

It was wonderful to see ‘Our Masters’ competing last Monday at the State Championships.

07.03.2024 News

Hi Everyone

I hope all is well

Masters State Championship………..and so much more

It was wonderful to see ‘Our Masters’ competing last Monday at the State Championships. From age groups 30-35 to 70+ we had competitors having a go and competing for Mullaloo SLSC. There were some ‘wily old veterans’ of the sport and relative ‘newbies’ out and about on the sand and in the water. There was also lots of bling doing the rounds at the after-carnival drinks.

While this was great to see, it struck me that this group of competitors labelled ‘Masters’ (alongside many many others in Our Club) also carry out many other roles and functions within the Club. Represented on the day were regular Patrollers (including Captains and VC’s); Drone operators; Managers and General Managers; shop volunteers; (fellow) Directors; Life Members; Coaches and so on. Roles that are the heartbeat of the club.

So, in acknowledging the efforts of all volunteers across the club throughout the season, for this week, I make special mention of our Masters Competitors and congratulate them on their efforts over the weekend and their overall contribution to the Club.

Carnival behaviour and conduct

Good luck to all our Nippers this coming weekend. Do you best and enjoy the carnival.

I am confident in our club members to ensure that they participate in carnivals in the right way. But it is timely that all clubs have received the message below from SLSWA. Please read this and ensure that your emotions are in check, and you respond appropriately if things are not going your way.

If you ever have need to question a decision or a series of events do so through your Managers on the beach, who will be able to assess the seriousness and action any response through appropriate channels. Please read below and ensure that Mullaloo does not fall foul of this. Please note that this outcome applies across the carnivals, not just Nippers

The message from SLSWA reads.

Over the last few weeks, in the lead up and at a number of our events, we have had instances of unacceptable behaviour with our staff and officials at the receiving end. The poor behaviour has been demonstrated by parents and Nippers themselves.

All members are to abide by the SLSA Codes of Conduct as well as the SLSWA Conduct and Behaviour Guide contained in the 2023-24_SLSWA_LittleNipper_Nipper_CompGuide_FINAL-1.pdf

If necessary, we will stop a Nipper from competing, if we deem their behaviour as inappropriate. In terms of adults, they will be asked to leave the arena and will not be permitted back in. Clubs are asked to assist and support our measures in this regard.
