SunSmart WA Surf Life Saving Championships – Youth/Open (Beach)

This year’s Beach State Championships was held on Saturday 2nd March at Sorrento Surf Lifesaving club.

The day started early with the 2K beach run. We had 6 competitors enter and take on the challenge. The nipper events then commenced and the youth and open reconvened later that morning for sprints, sprint relays and flags.

It was a long day of events for the 21 youth and open competitors that registered, with athletes racing through heats and finals, pushing themselves to their limits. All entrants showed great determination and team work in true Mullaloo spirit. Efforts paid off and as a club we visited the podium 9 times throughout the event. Collectively all competitors earned 68 points for the club, which is a 23 point increase from last year’s beach state champs. Mullaloo currently sit in 3rd place behind Sorrento and Trigg with 140 points, City Beach are close behind on 135.
