Accessibility and Inclusion

Thank you to all those who organised and contributed to the APM Accessibility and Inclusion day last Sunday. Hopefully you have seen some of the socials, including photos of Australia’s two most decorated Paralympians Ellie Cole and Priya Cooper. It was great to see both on the beach and pay such glowing tributes to our Sunday morning Club day, as well as the important accessibility and inclusion resources and plans at MSLSC.

The Reels are out

Through the Sunday morning activities it was great to see the traditional surf lifesaving reel and belts out last Sunday. A few experienced ‘old hands’ were showing some youth R&R competitors the tricks of the trade. Thanks to the old hands for doing this and for coach Paul Brierley for leading the youth R&R team.

As I said last week, there are not many activities and events that Mullaloo does not participate in.

Carnivals (Boats, surf sports, Dr)

Continuing the theme of participation, elsewhere in the newsletter you will see updates on carnival events. The 10-13’s had a development carnival at Alkimos. The Surf Boat crews were out again last weekend, as were many members taking part in the renowned ‘Doctor’ ski race from Rotto to Sorrento. I also saw plenty of Mullaloo members at the Bunbury Open Water swim event. More Carnivals this weekend with the Surf League and Little Nippers starting up at North Cott and Sorrento respectively.

Under 6’s

The Under 6 pink caps were out in force last week. Energy overload, which was great to see. I am really looking forward to seeing them again this week, as they continue to start their journey.

Congratulations Swell

Swell Mullaloo Beach has won Best Cafe at the Gold Plate Awards for the second year in a row.  A massive congratulations to Cassie and Olivier, the staff and team who share our premises and are one of the Club’s valued partners.

Volunteers and Clear ups

Thank you to volunteers across the Club for your ongoing contributions. Members, please say thank you to coaches, managers, bar volunteers, and Club staff when you see them. Please keep making your casual contributions through rosters and putting your hand up to do jobs when they need doing.

This includes Sunday morning clear -ups. While rosters are available,  please don’t leave stuff on the beach for others (rostered groups), or indeed the patrol, to clear up. If you see equipment etc, please bring it up the store and or trailers
