Mal Board Allocations

Mal Board allocations and guidelines have been outlined below, including an expression of interest form. The Mal Board allocations are for active U14 to Masters members. Note: Nipper board allocation requires a separate EOI.

Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club Mal Board Allocation Guidelines

This document sets a guideline for the allocation of Club Mal Boards. The surf sports management team which will include General Manager Surf Sports, Manager Competition, Manager Coaching and Manager Events will act on the club’s behalf and aim to allocate the correct craft to the correct athlete taking into consideration their commitment to the club, their weight requirements and their ability to positively represent the club at competitions.

Athletes requesting to lease a Club board will be given the opportunity to lease the most appropriate board in accordance to these guidelines. The Surf Sports management team will assess the applicant and use these guidelines to as fairly as possible distribute club equipment to meet the needs of the members.

The Factors that will be taken into consideration will be:

  1. Commitment to competition over the previous 12-month period
  2. Commitment to club sanctioned training sessions over the last 12-month period
  3. Achievement at club points days.
  4. Attendance to club day activities.
  5. Achievements in interclub carnivals over the previous 12 months
  6. Success as at State and national Level within the last 5 years.
  7. Commitment to Patrol and Lifesaving obligations over the previous 12 months.
  8. Club indorsed Coaches feedback on the individual competitor’s development and potential to succeed.

These factors will be measured by using the following tools:

  1. Competition results from club points days.
  2. Competition registrations for interclub carnivals as logged through SurfTec.
  3. Competition results from interclub carnivals
  4. Competition results from previous State and National Championships in relevant events, team or individual.
  5. Logged training hours with a club endorsed coach as proven by attendance records.
  6. Logged patrol and water safety hours as logged by Surf Guard.
  7. Feedback from Club endorsed coaches.

The Surf Sports management team will allocate the boards in the best condition to the members that they see as the best competitors to represent the club and uphold the club values.
