2023/24 Club Member Award Nominations

This award recognises a volunteer in any area of the Club relating to Nipper Activities, including, but not limited to:

• Club Day activities
• Carnivals
• Coaching
• Administrating
• State Competition Activities
• Active patrolling
• Officiating

Other key considerations:

1. Surf Life Saving Australia awards/certificates held (where applicable)
2. Community awards/certificates held (where applicable)
3. Outstanding contribution to Nipper Activities, in one or more areas of the Club
4. Demonstrated commitment to Surf Life Saving, across the Club.

The recipient of this award may be considered for nomination of the SLSWA Woodside Nippers Program Volunteer of the Year – information to be provided to Honours and Awards Committee.

This award recognises and rewards outstanding contribution(s) to Club administration.

Key considerations:

This award recognises and rewards an IRB Driver or Crew person who has demonstrated outstanding involvement in the IRB activities in the Club, both competition and patrolling

Key considerations

1. Currently proficient as an IRB Driver or Crew person.
2. Contribution to Surf Life Saving Power craft (IRB) duties.
3. Professional development in relation to training.
4. Contribution to development and improvement of training services for the Club (eg: participation on review panels, improvements etc).
5. Major achievements and positions, relevant to IRB, held at local, regional and State level.
6. Future training ambitions in the areas of Club and State.

This award recognises and rewards coaches who have made a significant contribution towards the area of coaching within surf life saving with regards to both athlete/s performance and coach educational development.

Key considerations:

1. Should be a current accredited surf sports coach throughout the current surf season
2. Must be a coach of any discipline of surf life saving competition
3. Has made a significant contribution towards an athlete/s performance in SLSWA/SLSA competition and their development at an international and/or national and/or state level
4. The nominated coach presents a positive image of the role of the coach and of surf life saving and demonstrates sound coaching principles and coaching plans
5. It will need to be demonstrated that the nominated coach is involved with coach education
6. Outline the most outstanding achievement in current season

The recipient of this award may be considered for nomination to the SLSWA Coach of the Year award – information to be provided to Honours and Awards Committee.

This award recognises and rewards outstanding achievement(s) or contribution(s) at a local or State level to Club and member development. Nominees must be between 13 and 19 years.

Key considerations:

1. Design and delivery of programs or activities that have contributed to the development of the club and/or its members.
2. Contribution at a club, region or State level to the recruitment and retention of members.
3. Demonstrated actions and behaviours as a positive role model.
4. Achievements and positions relevant to Club and member development, held at Club, regional and State level.
5. Future ambitions in the areas of Club, region and State.

The recipient of this award may be considered for the SLSWA Young Volunteer of the Year (18-25 years) – information to be provided to Honours and Awards Committee.

The Club Person of the year award will recognise an individual who has demonstrated achievements in a range of different areas of the Club or surf lifesaving service organisation throughout the year, or who has shown significant and outstanding achievements in one particular area. The individual’s contribution demonstrably enhances the development of surf life saving and is aligned to the Volunteer of the Year awarded by SLSWA.
