Silver Medallion – Patrol Captains Course 2023

The Silver Medallion – Patrol Captain award is designed for Patrol Captains and members interested in taking on this important role in the future. The program is intensive, involving two evenings of information and workshops with a final assessment where each participant was required to act as Patrol Captain and also participate as a patrol team member in a range of scenarios. Each scenarios required conduct of a full patrol setup and management of three situations presented, then followed up with pack down and debriefing.

The Mullaloo members who have completed all requirements include Ayden Bartle, Corey Bartle, Paul Copland, Jamie Gilbert, Andrew Gorrie, Nick Iellamo, Steve Mignon, Annika Rasmussen and Brett Warner. There were five Sorrento members also participating (Anthony Craven, Richard Molloy, Michael Monisse-Redman, Matt Teede and Ian Smallwood). Another Mullaloo member (Martin Fisk) is yet to be assessed, having been called away to work before completing the assessment. Some of the Mullaloo members are already in Patrol Captain roles, and others are shortly to take this on.

A number of people were involved in delivery of the program and conduct of the assessment. Mark Hills (Mullaloo) and Garry Bunford (Sorrento) completed requirements to attain their Facilitator qualification for this award. Tony Greenfield (Mullaloo) and Ian Smallwood (Sorrento) assisted with the program for the first time and were involved in both training and assessment. Anne-Marie Widermanski was the lead Facilitator.
