Mullaloo Patrols Come to the Rescue

Our fantastic Uluwatu and Waimea patrols came to the assistance of two separate distressed nippers at the weekend.

16.02.2022 NewsNippers

Congratulations to our fantastic Uluwatu and Waimea patrols who came to the assistance of two separate distressed nippers at the weekend’s SunSmart Nipper Qualifiers. Well done team!

The following feedback was received from the parents of a Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club member in regards to our Uluwatu patrol assisting with a suspected spinal case at the Nipper qualifiers on the weekend:

Dear Sir,

I am writing to thank your Club. I am the father of Simran Singh, a nipper from Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club. We were there at your club beach for the nippers’ qualifiers on the weekend that just went by. On Sunday, Simran was dumped by a large wave while playing in the sea with her friends after her event had ended, and she hurt herself. One of our age managers found out and sought first aid from the first aid team at the beach. I want to let you know that their response was simply incredible. They gave our daughter every bit of their attention from the moment they got to her until she was finally loaded onto an ambulance. As a family, we cannot express enough how grateful we are for the attention and care she received and the kindness shown to all of us by everyone who was there. They looked after Simran every step of the way and over a long period of time. They kept her and us comfortable and reassured all of us. They summoned the ambulance and helped transport Simran to it and all without showing the least bit of impatience or inattention. I wish to acknowledge their tireless efforts, care and assistance which was completely genuine and spontaneous.

I request that you please convey our gratitude to each and every one of them and recognise their exemplary work in any way possible. They will also be pleased to know that Simran had X-rays and a CT scan done and was cleared of any serious injury. Thank you to your Club and crew – we will always remember how much you cared and helped.

Best wishes Anna Singh, Dara Singh and Simran Singh.

The following feedback was received by another Sorrento Surf Club member in regards to our Waimea Patrol offering first aid assistance at the State’s on the weekend:

Hi Guys,

A huge thank you to your first aid crew at the nipper qualifiers on Saturday. My son Taige (Sorrento Surf Club) was injured during his flags event and was seen to by your first aid team. They made him feel safe and comfortable throughout treatment and were really amazing as I was on the beach solo with 2 kids competing.

We were directed to the emergency by them and can report back that Taige did suffer from a fractured arm, near the elbow. He is now in a cast repairing for the next 6 weeks.

Please pass on my thanks as well as Taige’s for all your help today.

Thanks

Tanya Howell
