SunSmart Nipper Qualifiers Wrap
A perfect weekend for competition at Mullaloo Beach on the weekend as we hosted the SunSmart Nipper States Qualifying Carnival.
It was a perfect weekend for competition at Mullaloo Beach on the weekend as we hosted the SunSmart Nipper Qualifier. The aim of this carnival is to qualify competitors for the upcoming SunSmart Nipper Championships in the following events: Boards, Iron, Board Rescue (U11-U13), sprints and flags.
Mullaloo has qualified an amazing 60 competitors into the State Champs with a further 23 as reserves.
This event was supported by members across the club setting up and packing up the beach, a whole range of catering jobs and IRB water safety. A big thank you as always to Julie Rapley for coordinating the event. Thank you also to Annika Rasmussen who was a referee in one of the water arenas and Vicki Rasmussen on the beach. Jesper Rasmussen, Marnie Black, Dawn Jones and Sandy Clarke also officiated over the weekend.
The State Championships are being held at Scarborough Beach from 18-20 March. It’s time to ramp up the training and hit those championships hard!
There are team events at States and the Surf race didn’t have to qualify, so there are plenty of opportunities for our Nippers to compete for our great club. Bring on the States!
