Mullaloo Moments

At the recent Masters sundowner on Sunday 21st Jan, the “Masters” were enjoying the afternoon at the Surf club rooms and someone noticed an older gentleman swimming a fair way offshore and appearing to be in difficulty.

He was bobbing around and not making a lot of headway and his head was repeatedly underwater.

Some people were talking about gearing up and heading out to him when Nicole Jahn decided she could not watch anymore and ran downstairs to try and provide him some assistance.

As she was at the club to enjoy the festivities she did not have any of her wet gear so proceeded to take off her good clothes, grab a rescue board and paddle out to him in her underwear.

All under the watchful eyes of the Masters.

When she arrived at his location – this gentleman told her he wasn’t in any trouble and was enjoying being out in the sea breeze blown ocean. Apparently his head was bobbing underwater because he was clearing his nose.

He declined her rescue attempt and swam back unaided.

Nicole dried off and went back upstairs to the applause of the rest of the group.

Good news story for the members as well as acknowledging the brave efforts of Nicole who genuinely believed this guy was in trouble and responded quickly and efficiently.
