Membership, patrols and the new season

28.09.2023 News

Hi Everyone

I hope all is well with you and yours

The core business of our club is Lifesaving Services and the various patrolling activities on the beach towards ‘no loss of life’.

We action this through our contract with the City of Joondalup (CoJ) and our rostered patrols, that gradually build in regularity towards the height of summer.

Thanks to everyone in Lifesavings Services for preparations for the new season. We will soon see patrol uniforms on the beach again.

The Sunday Club Day season is just around the corner with our first Sunday a few weeks away. Please get involved and look for opportunities to support and help the club’s activities.

A few items:

Can I please remind everyone to get their membership renewals in asap. It’s always a busy last few weeks towards the deadline. Consult the socials and / or contact the office if you need help with the membership process.

Downstairs bathrooms and changing areas:  You will remember that the City of Joondalup committed funds over a two-year period to refurb and develop our facilities to improve, refresh and upgrade the bathrooms and changing areas to meet modern compliance specifications.

The CoJ have instigated discussions with the club regarding the development of these facilities, with a first iteration of plans. Greg Kelleher, Emma Bamforth and Jacqui McGregor have already responded to this initial proposal, and we are keen to continue to work with the CoJ to make the most of the funds committed and meet our needs and improve our facilities.

As we move towards the summer and the new season, I’d like to thank all those members who have put their hands up to take on positions and roles within the club.

I’d like to encourage all members to again consider what contributions they can make to the club. This does not have to be in any formal role, rather help and assistance and or projects around the club. As Sundays arrive, we will be looking for members to assist and help with a range of different activities. Few are formal or ongoing, hence we’d appreciate you helping when your available

As earlier, the core business of patrol and lifesaving services is key. Thanks to all those who will be patrolling in those early weeks. Please make every attempt to join them and look out for the roster and when your patrol is on.

Have a good one.

Regards Andy
