They might have been ‘Little’ Nippers but there was nothing little about the effort and determination shown by our U8 and U9 competitors at the Little Nipper Championships at the weekend. Competing in beach sprints, beach flags, surf swim and board race everyone did Mullaloo proud.
Mullaloo was well represented across the age groups with our competitors giving all disciplines a go. The conditions were perfect , no hot sand or challenging waves. There were many Nippers’ goings through a few rounds, and many were finalists. Special mention to Alak Scarce 5th in U9 Beach Sprint, Adam Samardali 4th also in U9 Beach Sprint, Imogen Shudra 4th U9 Surf race and Imogen Davenport 4th U9 Beach Sprint. Congratulations to the Mullaloo medallists Heidi Wynyard – silver U9 Board race, Cooper King – bronze U8 Beach Flags and Madalene Sneddon – bronze U9 Surf Race. Huge celebration for Zoe Barclay as State Champion in U9 Board race!
Safe to say our competitors were all champions and their sportsmanship on the day was a credit to all the parents and AGMs hard work over the season. Loved seeing our sea of Mullaloo caps and each child should proud of their efforts.
Thanks to Shannon, Shelby, Katrina, Luke and Temily for managing the Little Nippers on the day, coaches Penny, Liam and Stu and AGMs Edie, Temily, Aishling, Ben Kristen, Luke and Jess for the season preparation behind event. We had a great cohort of awesome Officials. As hosts of the carnival the support from families to help set up the beach so that it was ready to go by 6.45 and ensure that it was packed up efficiently, was much appreciated. Thanks also to the IRB group who did both set up and water safety.
