Little Nippers Carnival

Our Little Nippers kicked off the carnival season on 3^rd December, with an event hosted by Cottesloe SLSC. For our U8’s and some U9’s it was their first taste of inter-club competition. The water conditions were perfect for the surf swim  and board racing. It was fantastic to see how confident and competent our Little Nippers are. The sand got too hot for the later flag sessions but those that got their competition done showed good skills in the Flag Pits. It was fun to finish off the water events with a Wade Relay. All of our competitors showing good team spirit.

The Nippers hit the beach at Sorrento the following Sunday for a carnival that was all team events (apart from flags!). It was a great introduction to the competition season. Again, the ocean conditions were good for racing and at this carnival all events were completed. All of the competitors dug deep for their team in this friendly carnival.

Our competitors at both carnivals are fortunate to have a dedicated team of AGM’s, AGMA’s and parent supporters. There are many things that need to happen before the nippers get to the beach, from sorting and transporting boards, taking an putting up tents and organisation of the competitors. The club has to provide officials to run the events and we are  lucky to have a core group that regularly assist  in a number of roles. As the season progresses and our competitor numbers increase then so does the club’s ratio of officials to competitors. We really need to expand our pool of officials  – contact Dawn () to find out more if you are interested. Clubs are also rostered for Water Safety duties. A fantastic group of parents spent 3 hours in and around at the Nipper Carnival  – big thanks to them.
