January and February Volunteers of the Month

Nooo! We have not forgotten our valuable member contributions - here we celebrate and acknowledge January and February's Volunteers of the Month!

07.03.2021 News

Our Volunteers of the Month for January and February were presented on Friday 5 March in the Club Lounge. Congratulations to all, you are all what makes our Club the fantastic club it is!

January Recipients

Troy Baird

All the time he gives to the Nippers is amazing, sacrificing his Monday and Wednesday evening as well as Saturday mornings. He knows how to connect with children who want to be pushed and is encouraging to those who need more confidence.

Patty Colbourne

Always one of the first to jump in and help when it’s needed. Patty assists with our retail shop, social working group and water safety. Nearly always quietly helping in the background, never really been thanked.

February Recipients

Jenni Wood

Jenni does a great job coaching our Nippers on a Monday and Wednesday night. She showed a great display of courage and duty of care when she attended to a member of the public and paddled out 200-300m to offer assistance. This was after board training and the kids stood on the beach in awe of her paddling skills. What a great example you are to our kids. Our beach is a safer place with you on it.

Louis Cheeseman

Louis is the AGM for the U14/15 girls this season, continuing on from being the U13 AGM last season. The girls absolutely love having him as their leader. Louis also coaches the Tier 2 board training on a Monday and Friday afternoon as well as often arranging additional training sessions in the lead up to carnivals and state championships. Louis manages the girls at each and eery carnival and is always assisting with other club functions and events. Louis always encourages the U14/15 girls to participate in all carnivals and has consistently had between 15-20 competitors from his age group, which is a fantastic achievement. When the Youth conducted the training session for the Nipper age groups a few weekends ago, Louis had the girls well organised and well prepared and we received many compliments about his organisation skills and those of the U14/15 girls he was managing from many of the U10 parents.

Terry Smith (the Tent Man)

Terry has taken on many roles this season. He is so much more than just the Tent Man keeping us sun smart at each and every carnival. This season, Terry has taken on the role as Team Manager for the U17 and above boys (no easy job) and has started coaching the Tier 2 Youth iron man/woman sessions on Saturday morning. Terry is always happy to lend a hand with whatever is required to ensure Club days, points day and carnivals run as smoothly as possible for our Youth/Seniors. He has also been instrumental in ensuring the U17 and U19 boys remain interested in Surf Club and compete for Mullaloo!

Stuart Ketteringham

Stu has done a fantastic job on keeping the Beachies training throughout the season. From the “Pork Chop” during winter to #FastFeet on a Monday night and also Sunday morning before Nippers. Each week the numbers are growing and we appreciate all the time and effort you put into the sessions!
