Introducing our New Nipper Committee

We are very excited to announce we have a fabulous, new Nipper Committee in place to help support our Woodside Nipper Program.

09.02.2021 Nippers

Seven AWESOME volunteers have come forward to take on specific roles that will really make a positive difference to how we co-ordinate our program. We have lots of exciting new ideas coming forward and we can’t wait to see these come into fruition over the coming months.

Introducing…

Shar Baird

Nippers Carnival Co-ordinator – anything carnival related

I’m a parent of two Nippers and have loved becoming a part of the Mullaloo community over the last 8 years.

Conquering fears to achieve my Bronze Medallion was a hugely rewarding experience and connected me to so many more members across the Club.

I’m a keen swimmer and runner – who will paddle a board if given no other choice!

I’m also a teacher who is very fond of a list and a spreadsheet! Coordinating registrations, players’ teas and other elements of carnival preparation are a wonderful opportunity to indulge in this!

Sarah Browne

Nippers Carnival Co-ordinator – working in partnership with Shar on anything carnival related

Hi, I’m Sarah Browne and I work with Shar Baird to help out with Nipper Carnivals and Players Teas.

I have been a member of Mullaloo Surf Club for eight years now and have been actively involved with a variety of volunteer opportunities within the club; social events, fundraising and helping out my husband Frank, with organising the U11 Boys.

Emma Chadderton

Nippers Board Co-ordinator – anything Nipper Board related

My name is Emma Chadderton and I have taken on the role of looking after all our Nipper boards. I have been part of the Club for about five years now, with a husband who lives in the water doing water safety and patrols, an U10 boy and an U9 girl. There are a lot of boards to keep track of that get used almost every day of the week and we are learning a lot as the season progresses. My job is to help you out and point you in the right direction for anything Nipper board related. Feel free to email.

Lee Linehan

New Nippers Liaison – to support new members

Hi I’m Lee, I’m a part of the newly formed Nippers Commitee.

I share the roll of New Member Co-ordinator with Barb. Although it’s been a slow start to this Nippers season, we are here to help with any questions you may have that might help you settle into Club life!

Welcome to you all!

Barbara Macri

New Nippers Liaison working in partnership with Lee to support new members

Hi my name is Barb, I am part of the New Nipper Committee I share the role with Lee and we look after the new Woodside Nipper members. We hope that everyone has settled in smoothly and we are here to answer any questions which new members may have!

Fiona Johnson

Nipper Admin

I’m Fiona Johnson, I wanted to put something back into the Club having been a member for five years. So, I help out Tanya and the rest of the team doing admin for the Nipper Committee. I have two girls in U7 and U11s.

Joanna Foulkes

AGM Support Facilitator

Hi guys my name is Jo, whilst my kids have grown up and no longer are members of the club, I live locally and still like to be a part of the Club. I have been involved in surf clubs since I was 12, that’s 40 years! I have a background in swimming, working with the Education Department at the beautiful Scarborough Pool. I have taken on a very small role in which to support your fantastic Nippers Age Group Managers. Really to give them the praise that they deserve, an occasional beer and collaborate all of their awesome ideas amongst each other. Nippers wouldn’t happen if we didn’t have our AGM’S and Mullaloo SLSC appreciates all the help and support you can give to them on Nippers Sundays and training.

We would love to extend an invitation to four more parent volunteers to come and join our Nipper Committee and have the following vacancies available:

Mullaloo Club Day Concierge – This would suit someone who is able to commit 2hrs every Club day to man an information station set up in the courtyard. This will give our members the opportunity to ask any questions they may have, access any information, promote up and coming awards, carnivals, competitions and volunteer opportunities etc.

If you are a happy individual who likes to help people then this is the perfect role for you!

Parent Volunteer Co-ordinator – approx 2-3hrs a week. To continue to develop our Parent AGM Support Groups – plan & deliver volunteer training so that parents know how they can help out. Role will include setting up Rosters and Spreadsheets.

Suitable for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who likes to inspire and encourage others to get involved.

Nipper Events – approx 2-3 hrs a week – Write up weekly articles for the club’s E-Newsletter to highlight and share how amazing our nippers are. To help plan and assist with Nipper Events such as social events and our end of season celebration event.

Suitable for anyone who likes to plan and organise events.

We are also on the lookout for three super awesome parents who would like to take the lead role as a Nipper Manager for the following age groups:

  • U6-U7 Nipper Manager
  • U8-U9 Nipper Manager
  • U10-U13 Nipper Manager

I know we are coming to the end of the season but this is a GREAT opportunity to ease into a new role, be fully supported and equipped to start the 2021/22 season with a BANG!

If you are interested in any of the roles available, feel free to come and discuss this next time you see me or email me – Tanya Honor.
