Happy New Year!

Gearing up for 2023

05.01.2023 Uncategorised

Hi Everyone

Happy New Year to all our members. I wish you and your family a healthy and satisfying 2023.

The weather has been fantastic in recent days and we are looking forward to seeing all our young members and families back on the beach this coming Sunday.

A great thanks to all those volunteers who took part in the various beach patrols over the holiday season. Special mention to those who patrolled on the ‘big’ days around Christmas day and Boxing day etc, which are often ‘voluntary’ and non-rostered. Many thanks to those folk. Lifesaving and Patrolling is our core business, and its great to see young and old putting their hands up for this vital community service.

Surf sports

Good luck and safe rowing for the Mullaloo Boaties who are currently doing the George Bass Marathon (East Coast) – 190km over 7 days! Batemans Bay to Eden! An amazing experience and good luck to all members.

Equally, good luck to all our members selected for the various WA State based teams over the coming weeks in Maroubra, NSW. Many of these athletes will then transfer across the Manly / Freshwater to participate in that traditional carnival. The State representatives will be joined by Mullaloo’s own touring party, 20 + athletes strong + coaches. Its great to see such a strong group heading across for the event. This augurs well for Aussies in 2023 at Scarborough (and future touring parties in the coming years). Good luck to you all.

In the coming weeks there are carnivals galore for all age groups, as the season really heats up. It would be great to see the blue, yellow and white represented across them all.

Club Funding

The Mullaloo Board of Directors are pleased to fund a number of projects and equipment items for the current financial year, which will have ongoing benefits to members as part of our capital funding.

I can confirm the following items have been approved. These reflect items presented by General Managers and Club committees. The items approved at this time are:

$37,000 Gallagher Club Security system (access points across the club)

$30,000 Downstairs changing rooms ‘facelift’. As we wait for civil and capital works to be undertaken by the City of Joondalup as reported a few weeks again in the enews

$18,000 (some) Club air conditioning units that need replacement

$3,300 Lounge sound system microphone

$8,400 Nipper Rescue Boards

$14,000 Nipper Boards

$2300.00 Adjustable ski’s

$13,000 Double Skis

$5000  Surfboat oars

‘Approx’ Total 150,000

There are a number of other projects under consideration as we move towards the next financial year. With this in mind, given the budget for 2023/24 will be set well in advance of the start of the new financial year mid year,  the Board of Directors and Club Exec (General Managers) welcome Club proposals/ideas that will have benefits broadly across the Club as well as those specific to different areas of the Club.

Finally, and again, Happy New Year and I am looking forward to seeing you on the beach for a big year ahead.

Regards Andy
