Mullaloo had a strong showing in the State championships

Mullaloo had a strong showing in the State championships in both the Masters and Open competitions.

 

In the Masters Championships Mullaloo pickup up 2 silvers, 1 Bronze and one Fourth

In the 200+ Years Women’s race, ‘The Marlins’ of Sandy Clarke , Rachel Green, Rachel Kremer, Alex Wells and sweep Richard Calnon raced hard to pick up a Silver Medal.

In the 200+ Years Men’s Race, ‘The Gents’ of Stuart Clarke, Darren Protzman, Rob Gaaljardt, Martin Fisk and sweep Richard Calnon were pipped on the line with the judges having to go to video from both ends to decide the winner , With a Silver Medal going to ‘The Gents’.

“Party’s Pullers” of Tony Allen, Trevor Warland, Simon Brigham, Duncan Gemmell and Sweep Steve Part came home with the Bronze Medal in the 180+ Men’s Race.

And The Mullaloo Rebels of Warren Robinson, Serhan Memik, Greg Stewart, Tim Bytels and Sweep Darren Protzman came home in 4th position in the 160+ Years Men’s race.

 

In the Open Championships Mullaloo showed its depth in surfboats, entering 9 crews, including 3 teams in the Surfboat Relay where they won Silver and Bronze Medals.

Silver going to the Mullaloo Blue team of Stormbringers, Wizards and Usain Boat, while the bronze medal going to the Mullaloo Gold team of The Marlins, Party’s Pullers and Little Mermaids.

Mullaloo had great success in the U19 division this, fielding 3 crews.

The Stormbringers of Jack Grant, Jack Barrett, Jay Firth, Samuel Leeks and Sweep Duncan Gemmell rowed strongly to win the Gold medal by a couple of lengths , a fantastic effort.

The Little Mermaids of Molly Grant, Gabriella Leeks, Leah Dineah, Ashleigh Firth and swept by Duncan Gemmell came home in second position to win the Silver medal.

The Misfits of Tayla Mickle, Molly Bean, Sophie mills, Ebony Millar and sweep Stuart Clarke rounded out the Mullaloo U19’s with 5th place.

The U19 crews all have several more seasons to compete in U19’s so hopefully more medals to come from them in the coming years.

The Usain Boat crew of Elise Dagnia, Lowri Bishop, Hannah Wells, Sophie Adeline and sweep Stuart Clarke competed in both open and U23’s, battling hard in Opens only to miss a spot in the Final by 1 point and rowing into 4th place in the U23 Women’s final.

The remaining Mullaloo crews raced in reserve grade.

In the Mens reserve grade, The Wizards, The Rebels and the Stormbringers rowed 3 rounds with the Wizards making the Semi Finals.

In the Women’s reserve grade, The Marlins, Little Mermaids, Still Salty and the Misfits all tackled 3 rounds, with the Marlins and Little Mermaids making the Semi Finals.
