Welcome to 2024

A moment in time when the multiple facets of Mullaloo Surf Club were demonstrated

04.01.2024 News

Happy New Year to you all. I hope you had a great time over the holiday period.

Saturday December 30th

Because I am not very organised, I was one of the last few who did the Bronze Medallion refresh/maintenance on Saturday December 30th.

What a hive of activity Mullaloo Beach was on that morning!

Also, a moment in time when the multiple facets of Mullaloo Surf Club were demonstrated.

Thanks to all those who were involved in the activity on that day, whether service or your own physical activity. It’s all part of the narrative of a Surf club.

The Mullaloo Open Water Swim was on. A qualifier for the Rotto Channel Swim. I spotted a few members competing and swimming in the event (well done, and good luck if it’s in prep for Rotto). Also, many many members assisting and helping look after the swimmers by way of water safety. Many thanks to all those who gave up their time for this event.

There was a crew of youth boaties out with Stu Clarke (sweeping). Amazing to see such young athletes involved in the ‘boats’ and looking like they were having a great time.

The ‘normal’ Club patrol was out and about of course, leading the patrol capacity on what was a busy Saturday morning anyway, with or without the Swim event. Thanks to you all.

Our athletes were just finishing their Ironman training when I arrived. They head into the business side of the season in the coming weeks and months. Good luck to them all.

The normal Saturday morning ski paddlers were also out and about, finishing up. Many immediately switched to water safety for the swim event.

Of course, the next day it all started again, with various other activities, patrols and events happening.

So, all in all plenty happening and a good cross section of ‘Our Club’.

GM Club Services

In the lead up to Christmas, I neglected to welcome Cindy de Bomford as our new General Manager Club Support Services. Cindy was previously our GM Facilities a year or so ago, and after a break, she has stepped back in this newly configured Club Services role. We are really grateful and pleased to see Cindy back and in the role.

Many many thanks to Jacqui Mcgregor who has been looking after this portfolio for almost 2 years. On top of her Board commitments and various other roles, she has done an amazing job. Jacqui, the Club and I can’t thank you enough for your hard work in this role.

Ok, look forward to catching up in the coming ‘busy’ week.

Regards Andy
