Little Nippers we are asked for a ratio of 1:10, so for every 10 entered Little Nippers we need 1 Official.
Nippers 1:15.
SLSWA are repeatedly emphasising that they are going to enforce these ratios. Had this been reinforced we would have been short at the last two carnivals. We really need to build up a bigger pool of Officials. Officiating is a great way to contribute as a member. You can pick beach or water as a preference and will find that you will develop a range of skills through the different roles that are required to make a competition run effectively. You get the best spot on the beach, you get fed, and my favourite thing is that you get to make connections with other clubs.
The Core Official course is fairly straightforward to obtain, through the SLSA Members Area. Attached to this is guidelines on how to do it. You need to complete a couple of online courses and then be mentored at a carnival and then you can be accredited with the award. It is a cost of $35 which will be refunded to you once you are accredited and have attended another carnival. Happy to chat or catch up with and guide anyone through the process if needed
