Message from the President

It was wonderful to see our Little Nippers competing last weekend at Mullaloo in their State Championships.

02.03.2023 News

Hi Everyone

I hope all is well.

Congratulations to all those who were involved in the Rottnest Swim last weekend. It was great to see lots of Mullaloo members finish, accompanied by some all important paddlers, and the occasional skipper on the boat.

It was a case of young and old participating. Great to see family and friends around to proudly welcome swimmers landing in Rottnest and to soak up the occasion. Well done again!

Carnivals Galore

It was wonderful to see our Little Nippers competing last weekend at Mullaloo in their State Championships. Plenty of effort and enthusiasm and some bling. Well done to all that competed, and thanks to AGM’s, Managers, Set up / pack down crews, Officials, Sausage sizzlers, water safety and so on.

The Carnivals galore tag applies to this week as well. All ages Beach State Championships on Saturday, and Masters Surf State Championships on Public Holiday, Monday. All Carnivals are at Trigg.

All the best to our Athletes and (importantly) various members who are assisting through many different roles such as Officials, Safety Officers, Water Safety etc. Thank you for your contribution to SLSWA and ‘our Club’.

A focus on Education

As per last week, in coming editions of eNews we will run a series of articles on education awards, as well as the processes involved, so you are informed and, we hope, consider pursuing something that suits you and your family.

This week we have a focus on a cluster under the Emergency Care Pathway

First Aid – covers resuscitation, patient management, bleeding, burns, fractures and dislocations, soft tissue injury, poisons, bites and stings. Candidates must be 14 years old on the day of final assessment.

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques – covers resuscitation with a stronger emphasis on teamwork, severe bleeding management, airway management, assisted ventilation, patient observation techniques. Candidates must be 15 years old on the day of final assessment and also hold a current First Aid qualification.

Pain Management – patient assessment and monitoring, use of inhalation analgesia (pain relief), management of a scheduled drug. Candidates must be 18 years old on the day of assessment. Candidates must hold current First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation Techniques qualifications.

Enjoy the long weekend,

Andy
