Message from the President

Last weekend, was a big one at the Club. Massive! Huge!

23.02.2023 News

Hi Everyone

I hope all is well

All the best to those undertaking the Rottnest swim, either individual, duo or teams, this coming Saturday. I know we have many, many members involved in some way, shape or form. The weather is looking good, fingers crossed.

Last weekend, was a big one at the Club. Massive, Huge!!!!

And there is more to come this week…

Nipper Qualifying Carnival hosted by Mullaloo

Well done to all the nippers who participated at the qualification carnival. Best of luck to all those who made it through. For those who did not, I hope you had a great day and are proud of your efforts. The Club certainly is.

A carnival such as this represents the multi-faceted nature of the Club and indeed surf lifesaving in general. The event involved: Surf Sports; Events Managers; Development; Nippers Managers & AGM’s; Water Safety coordination and actual IRB and Water ski crews, Beach Patrol,  liaison with SLSWA; Volunteers for set up and pack up; a sausage sizzle crew (members and life members in this case); bar and Club staff and volunteers on the day and during the week; Surf shop operations and many more.

All this and normal Club day on Sunday for those age groups not competing.

It’s an effort that should not be underestimated, hence a huge thank you to you all.

And of course, we get to do it all again this Sunday with the Little Nippers Carnival. Please take every opportunity to lend a hand and help out where you can.

Abalone Patrol – thanks to all those who took part in the final abalone patrol of the year. More great conditions and thankfully another safe event.

Beach Access Mat Maintenance Crew

Mullaloo has a highly dedicated Beach access mat maintenance crew. It is an enthusiastic collective of members who look after the everyday maintenance of the mat, ensuring access to the beach for all.

The crew needs some additional members. This is an ideal way to provide a service to the community, especially to those who find access to our beautiful beach not quite as easy. Please consider offering your support to this group. Feel free to contact me at , and I can forward you contacts within the Club who can provide you with some more details and link you to the ‘socials’ that link the crew members together.

A Focus on Education

As per last week, in coming editions of eNews, we will run a series of articles on education awards, as well as the processes involved, so you are informed and, we hope, consider pursuing something that suits you and your family. We get the ball rolling this week with some information about two big ticket items, the Bronze Medallion and the Surf Rescue Certificate

Bronze Medallion The core award. Includes surf awareness and safety, signals, rescue techniques, resuscitation, first aid, radio, spinal injury management, carries, bites and stings. Candidate must be 15 years old on the day of final assessment.

Surf Rescue Certificate The entry level award. Includes surf awareness and safety, signals, rescue techniques, resuscitation, radio. Candidates must be 13 years old on the day of final assessment.

That’s it for now. All the best.

Regards Andy
