Message from Club President, Andy

A spectacular evening at our Annual Awards Dinner.

25.05.2023 News

Hi Everyone

I hope all is well with you and yours.

Annual Dinner

Naturally, I would like to start with acknowledging everyone who was nominated and took home awards at last weekend’s Annual Dinner.

It was a humbling experience to see, read and hear about all the contributions and achievements made by members who were nominated and short listed for awards

I would especially like to acknowledge our 3 new Life members: Jacqui MacGregor, Lyn Brosens and Brett Warner. These members have contributed to the Club over a long period of time in a variety of positions and roles, and are very deserving of the honour.

Well done to everyone!

A special thanks you to all those who helped and assisted in putting together the evening.

These included planning & coordination by Dawn Jones & Chrissie Payne. Sandy Clarke for coordinating the presentation on the evening. Our MC Jenni Wood and Photography by Lisa Lindstrom. Penny Fortmann was also involved in some initial planning before heading off on her travels. This group were supported in setup & breakdown by many members, including Jenny and Richard Orme, Noel Fortmann, Cindy de Bomford, Kay Smith, Philippa Taylor, Alison Gerrard, Gail Bennett, Meg, Kirsten Dobson, Cassidy Dobson, Donna Harris, Margot Sudintas and Patty and Rob Colbourne.

Special thanks to Cassie and Olivia and the Team at SWELL for the wonderful food and our bar staff for the evening!

Club Policies and Documents

Please be aware that many Club related documents and policies are housed in the SLSWA Members Portal. The ‘public facing’ MSLSC website houses ‘bigger picture’ club documents such as the Annual Report, Strategic plan etc. The SLSWA Members portal is the go-to place for other more nuanced documents, it has an extensive suite or policies and procedures that underpin many of our own Club policies, especially in the area of Member protection. Please also note that the Club utilises many of the SLSA and SLSWA policies (for example The Member protection policy, Complaints policy) and these are also available on these sites.

Conflict of Interest

Some of you may be aware that my son Ben Jones has started coaching at Mullaloo in a paid capacity. As previously with my wife Dawn (who holds the GM Development portfolio) it is appropriate to acknowledge the potential conflict of interest between myself (as President) and Ben. Please note that the various COIs are acknowledged at all Club meetings as a standard protocol. In this case, I withdraw myself from discussion and debate where a real or perceived Conflict of Interest applies, for example, budgets related to Coaching etc. I am happy to chat with anyone who would like further clarification.

All the best

Andy
