This weekend we host the Dave Wilson, Kahuna

26.10.2023 News

Hi Everyone

Broken records – someone who keeps saying the same thing over and over again.

It was very encouraging to see many new faces at the club last week, either as completely new members (welcome by the way)  or new volunteers to roles, especially with the Nippers who started last weekend.

At the same time, it was great to see so many familiar faces returning to do roles, e.g., AGM’s etc.

I do feel like a broken record sometimes, but I make no apologies for that. The Club exists to provide lifesaving services to the community, and this is provided by volunteers.

Thanks to all those who have volunteered in whatever way during the early part of the season.  Please make every attempt to support the club and in turn your family and community, in whatever way you can.

There is an Nipper Rescue Certificate (NRC) course coming up. For those new to surf and perhaps with young ones, this is a great start. You can then support you kids during their activities.

We are still looking for suitable volunteers to take on some more formal (but fun) roles. Social, Sponsorship and Coaching Manager roles are vacant, and we are really keen to have people in these roles. There is support, previous managers, great office staff, GM’s all available to induct, support, and assist. Please consider these opportunity

Dave Wilson Kahuna – Talking of great volunteers and contributors to our club.

Dave Wilson sadly passed away a few years ago. Dave is a Life Member of our club due to his contribution to many areas of the club over a long period of time. He was the ultimate volunteer.

Every year we have an event to remember the great man. It is based on a design by Dave, one that he used to lead others through during his regular fitness routine.

Come down to the beach this Sunday (see the socials for details) and enjoy the event.

Shirts and shoes in the lounge

Please do not enter the club lounge without shirt and shoes, this includes children. It is a licensing requirement. Thank you.

Have a good one.

Regards Andy
