Greetings from Andy, Club President

It was great to see many of you back on the beach last weekend.

Hi Everyone

It was great to see many of you back on the beach last weekend.

I hope those still on holiday are having a great and restful time.

There was a great crowd down the Club bar last Friday night. It’ll be great to see you all down there again in the coming weeks as the beautiful evenings pick up (hopefully).

Thanks to our Managers, Coaches and AGM’s

I think what was highlighted again last week was what a fantastic job our Managers, AGM’s and Coaches do for our members.

Throughout the week (Monday to Sunday), and throughout the season, Managers and Coaches are providing high quality organisation, training and activities for young and old alike. Most are doing it out of the goodness of their heart and it’s a massive commitment and effort. Be it carnivals, mid-week or Sundays.

Likewise our Managers and AGM’s on Sundays are giving outstanding voluntary service to run and support Nippers sessions. I walked the beach last Sunday and it was amazing to see the quality of coaching and teaching that was going on. Great delivery, great relationships and great care across the beach. Thank you so much Managers, Coaches and AGM’s.

Downstairs bathroom/changing room ‘facelift’

Hopefully you have seen the socials and communications to alert you to the fact that the downstairs changing room / bathroom facelift will begin this week. Apologies for any inconvenience, but we are not really prepared to wait for a ‘best time’. We just want it done!! It’s a ‘bit by bit’ project so the facilities will not be closed all the time. I hope you’ll be patient. Thanks to Jacqui and Greg Kelleher for pulling this project together, also the previous building committee for doing much of the ground work.

Remember this is a ‘stop gap’ facelift to tide us by for the next year or so, before the bigger City of Joondalup civil works project kicks in. Please see previous enews items for details on this.

Dandelions WA

Just a reminder that we are supporting the Dandelion WA organisation with a stationery drive.  We will be collecting stationery for this worthy cause over the next 2 weeks and have allocated items for each Nipper age group to contribute.  Boxes will be labelled and placed in the Club for donations and can be dropped off on Sundays or during the week at the Club Office.

Donations of any kind are greatly appreciated and will be used towards making those children who start the new year without stationery,  feel like they are well prepared and confident about their school year ahead.

Surfboats over East

Well down to our surfboat crewies who completed the George Bass Marathon (East Coast). I understand the conditions were ‘interesting’ and challenging. An amazing achievement and experience and well to all.

Interstate and Surf League

As you read this a number of our Athletes and Managers are getting ready to represent WA in the National Super Surf League (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) and Interstates (Monday) at Maroubra, Sydney. The Nutrigrain Ironman series rounds 3 & 4 also runs across the weekend, making it a really exciting opportunity for  our members. Well done again to all those selected.

Look forward to seeing you all around,

Regards Andy
