Greetings from Andy…

Happy Australia Day!

26.01.2023 News

Hi Everyone

Happy Public Holiday.

Hopefully you were able to have a restful day with family and friends.

Competitions and Carnivals

This coming weekend we have a good crew of competitors and families heading down to Bunbury for the Annual Country Carnival. Please travel safe and enjoy the event.

Last weekend was extremely busy with a massive Mullaloo turn out at the Nippers Carnival at Trigg. There were some great efforts, application and overall performances across the beach, on the sand and in the water. For those bound for the State Championships and the various qualifying events in the next month or so, it was a great hit out.

On the East Coast Mullaloo’s touring party acquitted themselves well at the Freshwater carnival in Sydney. Following the disappointment of the cancelled Manly Open Carnival the day before, due to shark action, the touring team hit the water and sand to bring home some great performances and perhaps more important (for many), experience in East Coast conditions.

You will find more details of these various events elsewhere in the ‘e’news.

Lifesaving Rescue Tubes

One conundrum occupying a few people at Mullaloo, especially those in the Lifesaving section and competition, is the apparent loss of a large number of Lifesaving Rescue Tubes (The Rescue Tube is a traditional wrap-around tube designed for beach, lake or pool rescues. It can be handed to a patient to perform a non-contact rescue). They are commonplace around the Club, but we believe that we have between 30-40 tubes missing. If you have any idea where such an amount of tubes have gone or are, please let the office know. As you can imagine we are at a loss. But there may be a simple answer. Thanks for your help.

Drone Patrol

The Club runs a Drone patrol. Many thanks to Craig Blake and his team for their ongoing work in this area of the lifesaving section. The Drone patrol operates within a highly regulated environment, and all those involved are accredited officers and fully trained or under instruction while they train. We have lots of interested people enquire about the patrol, mostly interested in what is a new aspect of the lifesaving environment. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Officers on the beach (at an appropriate time) or contact the Club and we can direct you to the appropriate person to answer your question. Thanks to all those members who are involved in this exciting new development.

Have a great weekend,

All the best

Andy
