08.02.2024 News

Hi Everyone

Last week I mentioned that MSLSC are excited to announce that we have joined the Sports Chaplaincy Australia (‘SCA’) programme in 2024. Cath Ashton is now a fully accredited Sports Chaplain and will soon be working with us to support members. This is another volunteer role, and we thank Cath for taking on the role and supporting Mullaloo.

Our involvement in the Sports Chaplaincy programme, through Cath, is part of our evolving and growing desire to help and support the pastoral care of members across the club.
Apart from primarily providing ‘Pastoral Care’, our Chaplain Cath will also seek to provide:
• Investment in caring for the whole person – on and off the beach.
• Tools to equip your club to deal with the life and wellbeing needs of staff members and wider sporting community through sports chaplaincy.
• To equip your community to navigate all seasons of life.
• With identifying when further professional health support is needed
• When incidents, traumatic loss, injury, and difficult moments strike in your community.
• For further information- https://sportschaplaincy.com.au/for-sport/
Cath will be around the club in the coming week, initially on Sunday morning and then the full range of club activities.

She will soon have her own ‘Chaplains’ email, and I welcome members to catch up with her, introduce her to the club, and of course make use of this exciting new role.

State Championship

The various State Championships are underway, and it was great to see Mullaloo bring home some bling in last weekends First Aid Championships. Thanks, and well done to all who represented the Club. I hope you had fun.

This weekend we have the ‘Rescue Championships’ for Open and Youth, which tests some traditional skills in the Belt, Board Rescue and so on. All the best and have fun.

Then the Championships come thick and fast in the coming weeks. It’s a real festival of State Championships nowadays.

SunSmart WA Little Nippers Championships at Mullaloo

Key event(s) for our club will be the:

February 17 – February 18 – SunSmart WA Surf Life Saving Championships – Nippers Qualifier at Mullaloo

February 25 February – SunSmart WA Little Nippers Championships at Mullaloo

The Club will need ‘hands on deck’ for these events, so look out for emails and socials for support and help at these events, thanks.

Sunday evenings and Masters

I was not able to be at either event, but it was great to hear of good numbers of members enjoyed last Sunday night at the club. And recently the Masters had a social catch up, making the most of an evening at the club and the food trucks on Tom Simpson Park. It’s the height of the summer and its great to see groups meeting, be it youth, Boaties, Masters, patrols, catching up and enjoying company and our facilities.

We have volunteer of the month this Friday and the bar specials keep coming.

Ok that it for now.

See you around.

Regards Andy
