Masters States – Water Events

Overall, on the day Mullaloo finished 3rd

09.03.2023 Surf Sports

Monday saw our masters take to Trigg beach for the Masters State Titles water events with a team of 27 competitors across the male and female arenas. The weather was sunny, with small surf conditions but made tricky with a shallow low tide sand bank in the morning and a nice brisk sea breeze in the afternoon.

The results are far too many to even attempt to list out individually, but it’s fair to say we either brought home medals or points in practically every event we contested, and in many cases both.

One standout performance was from our first-time master competitor Jaime Roberts, proving ski paddlers can swim by winning the 30s surf race, bravo! Overall, on the day Mullaloo finished 3rd behind Trigg and Sorrento in the point score; but cumulatively with the beach events that were run on the Saturday we are 2nd overall 74 points behind Trigg, with the masters boat races still to come this weekend at the open state titles. Big thanks to everyone who contributed to the day from the club, not only the competitors but our volunteer officials, water safety, and everyone who came along to support the club on the day. Thank you.
