Beach Accessibility and Inclusion

Creating an Inclusive Beach for All at Mullaloo

09/01/2025 News

At Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive beach environment where everyone can enjoy the sand, sea and sun.

Over the weekend patrols, it was fantastic to see so many beachgoers using the beach access mat, which provides a vital link for individuals with limited mobility to access the beach more easily. A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers who ensure the mat is regularly maintained and available for use – your efforts make a real difference to our community.

In addition to the beach mat, Mullaloo Beach also offers an all-terrain beach wheelchair and walker, designed to navigate the sand with ease and help users get closer to the water. These mobility aids are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis and can be accessed by contacting the City of Joondalup at 9400 4226 or the Mullaloo SLSC Office at 9307 7766.

Thanks to the support of the City of Joondalup, these mobility aids are stored securely in a purpose-built storage unit adjacent to the public toilet facilities on the north side of the Surf Club. The storage unit operates using the Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) system, which provides individuals with disabilities 24/7 access to a network of public facilities across Australia.

If you would like more information about these accessibility services, please contact the City of Joondalup at 9400 4226.

At Mullaloo, we’re proud to be making our beach more accessible and inclusive – because everyone deserves to enjoy a day at the beach!
