Resuscitation Certificate

The aim of this course is to provide par­tic­i­pants with the knowl­edge and skills to main­tain or restore breath­ing and cir­cu­la­tion in an adult, child or infant. The course con­tent is based on the poli­cies and stan­dards of the Aus­tralian Resus­ci­ta­tion Coun­cil.

Course prerequisites

  • Finan­cial mem­ber of Mul­laloo Surf Life Sav­ing Club
  • Age at least 10 years of age on the date of final assess­ment

Course length

This course has both the­ory and skills (prac­ti­cal) com­po­nents. The total dura­tion is approx­i­mately three (3) hours, depen­dant on the rate of skills acqui­si­tion and the size of the group

Course outcomes

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of the course, par­tic­i­pants will have the knowl­edge and skills to enable them to:

  • Safely apply the action prin­ci­ples of D R S A B C D
  • Effi­ciently per­form casu­alty assess­ment
  • Effec­tively per­form exter­nal car­diac com­pres­sions (CPR)
  • Use of an auto­mated exter­nal defib­ril­la­tor
  • Per­form one and two per­son CPR tech­niques
  • Effec­tively apply adult, infant and child CPR rates and tech­niques
  • Safely place a patient in the recov­ery posi­tion
