ECU SBL Work Integrated Learning Programs | Semester 1, 2020 — Expressions of Interest

ECU is currently in the process of recruiting and screening potential Work-Integrated Learning Program students ready for Semester 1, 2020, and have had some excellent students apply across a variety of disciplines.

ECU currently has two WIL programs for Semester 1, 2020 are:

  1. Placement:   100-hour unpaid work placement that is typically structured as one or two days per week over 13 weeks.
  2. Internship:    600-hour work placement, where students work for 16 weeks on a full-time basis; 8 weeks unpaid and the final 8 weeks paid.

 They have received applications from the following students who are studying:

  • Accounting
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • HRM
  • Finance
  • Sports or Recreation
  • Tourism
  • Hotel or Hospitality Management
  • Event Management
  • Project Management
  • International Business
  • Law
  • Management Information Systems
  • Generalist

Students are initially screened for Good Academic Standing and must meet behavioural standards based on Psychometric Assessment.  Successful students are then invited to partake in an industry standardised Recruitment Workshop, where they are assessed on professionalism, personal presentation, a team work activity and networking social skills.

There are many benefits to hosting one of our Work-Integrated Learning Program students, including:

  • Access motivated, enthusiastic students with new ideas
  • Complete existing or commence new projects
  • Develop your staff leadership capacity through mentoring and coaching
  • Trial prospective graduate employees

Next steps:

If you would like to host a student for Semester 1:

24th February – 29th May 2020

  1. Please complete this Expression of Interest form as soon as possible and before 9th October;
  2. We will then select candidates based on students’ preferences that are best matched to the criteria that you outline in the EOI form;
  3. If a suitable candidate(s) is matched, we will email you (usually within 8 weeks) the student’s Linkedin Profile and their short Introduction Video for your review;
  4. You can then conduct your own recruitment processes that may include a face to face interview;
  5. Please notify us of your decision via email;
  6. We will then request that you complete a Confirmation and Supervisor details form; and
  7. Student will then start their placement with you no later than 2nd March 2020

Please note:

  • A key part of being a host organisation is having appropriate supervision/coaching. For example: many businesses are looking for support in the digital and social marketing space but may not have the supervision that is required to facilitate the learning element of a marketing student’s placement;
  • We strive to provide student candidates for all organisations that offer placements; however, we are limited by the number of students that apply. We apologise in advance if we cannot contact you with suitable candidates; and
  • Placements will need to commence no later than 2nd March 2020 and will end approximately 29th May 2020 dependant on the type of WIL Program.

If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
