President’s Message

Wow, what a night at the SLSWA Awards of Excellence at the weekend! Mullaloo had a number of nominated finalists across many categories, showcasing the depth of talent within our Club. Unfortunately, not all could win but we were successful in taking out these awards:

  • Support Operations Volunteer of the Year – Tony Greenfield
  • Administrator of the Year – Lyn Brosens
  • Official of the Year – Sandy Clarke
  • Lavan Club of the Year – 2nd place

Congratulations to our winners and we look forward to you representing both Mullaloo and the state at the SLSA National awards in October.

Also announced on the night was a new sponsorship agreement with Woodside that will provide all our Nippers with caps, vests and bags for the new season which will also make the program more accessible to all and help train our next generation of lifesavers. As a club, we will be getting new Nipper flags and other equipment which will make for a fantastic experience for our Nippers and our volunteers.

As you will have seen, we have a Special General Meeting scheduled for 4.30pm on Sunday 7 July to replace our current constitution with a new one which complies with the new legal requirements. I’d like to encourage as many of you as possible to attend and have your say on the acceptance of our new governing document which has been tirelessly worked on by Craig Bull over the last year.

On top of that, we also have our AGM scheduled for Friday 19 July and for those considering nominating for the role of Director, I encourage you to come and have a chat about your aspirations and to see what you can help with at our Club. Given we are extremely close to finalising our strategic plan, it is imperative we have the right team to ensure it is implemented effectively to drive the right outcomes for the Club, our members and the community.

Lastly, Dawn Jones and the social team have put together an awesome night for Friday 21 June to raise funds for the Cancer Council. A few times per year we put our own needs on hold and promote other charities within our Club that have relevance to us. Whilst this is obviously something very close to my heart, cancer does affect many of us in the Club and our community and I encourage you all to come down and make this a fantastic fundraising night by having fun.

To One Club!
