Cancer Council Family Fundraiser

It was absolutely fabulous to see the Lounge so full of happy people on Friday night for the Cancer Council Family Fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who supported this in any way, it made my role as organiser so much easier.

The room looked great thanks to the setup gang of Jackie Martin, Chrissie Payne, Tanya Honor, Janine Cronk, Simone and Sarah Truter, Penny Fortmann, Julie Rapley and hopefully I’ve not missed any names.

The colour scheme may have seemed an interesting choice however, it was based on the ribbon colours that recognise different cancers. Around the walls were the images of the ribbons with the lavender balloon representing all cancers and the plum balloon representing the carers, who play a vital role in supporting anyone going through any form of cancer treatment.

The kids looked great with their faces painted, thanks to Zara Martin, Leah Martin and Ava Bushby. Amy Honor and Annika Rasmussen did a great job working the room with jars of lollies and a sloth who went to a new home with the name M and M! Great to see our youth helping out.

Julie Rapley did a good job with promoting the ‘rolling the coins at the bottles’ and making it a great spectator sport!

Thank you to the chefs and to Tanya Honor, Simone Truter, Cindy de Bomford and Jackie Martin for managing the Dessert Bar – those affogatos were amazing and the ice cream bar a bit of a hit!

The Marketing team of Chrissie Payne and Simone Truter did an awesome job of getting local businesses to donate raffle prizes, members were also very generous with their donations – whoever thought that raffles could be such fun and generate so much enthusiasm for buying tickets! The Silent Auction gave a substantial boost to the funds, so thank you to those generous bidders! A list of anyone who donated anything will be displayed by the bar. Janine Cronk, Deb Swan, Rosanne Ryan and Sandy Clarke had a busy time selling all those tickets.

Trevor Bulley did a sterling job at the bar ably assisted by a number of members who jumped in to help out, Trevor did his shift as a volunteer as a contribution to the event.

The music from Claudia and Chelsea was instrumental in generating the positive vibe to the room and we are looking forward to having them back to play for us again in the future.

It was about raising money for the Cancer Council, however, the night proved to be more than that. It was a great example of how well we pull together as a Club and have a great time in the process!

I would like to acknowledge an extremely generous anonymous club member who has donated to this cause.

We are proud to announce, that thanks to everyone’s generosity a total of $4,130 has been raised.
