Board’s Shorts

Swell Partnership

We are pleased to report that the partnership with Swell is developing well and they recently celebrated their first birthday.

With the restaurant up and running, the Board is working with Cass and Olivier to embed processes and procedures that will allow for a prolonged and successful relationship.

Financial benefits are beginning to flow into the club and the Board is currently working with the Club’s Executive to plan for the future on the back of this.

As we move to the next phase of our relationship it’s timely to thank all those who have been involved in the development of this project, from the initial conceptualisation of the refurbishment and redesign, through the building phase, to the current point.  The vision and planning of past Boards under the leadership of Carlo Tenaglia and Stuart Clarke is bearing fruit.

If you ever have any questions or enquiries about this partnership please feel free to ask and / or discuss this with a current Board member.

Strategic Planning

The current Club’s Strategic Plan (2013 to 2023)  is 5/6 years into enactment and the Board has resolved to review this existing plan.

The review will seek feedback and gather data from across the club, to consider the current plan in the context of 2019 and beyond, towards 2023.

As a result the Board will re-calibrate (or not) the plan going forwards.

While the current Board will set direction based on this review, the Board has secured an external facilitator to gather data and advise on this process. All members will have the opportunity to provide feedback and thoughts in one way or other during this process. Look out of more details in the coming weeks.

Capital expenditure (CAPEX)

The Club’s Executive is currently gathering capital expenditure ideas and items to put to the Board, for the club moving forwards. If members have ideas and / or thoughts on club needs that fall into the CAPEX ‘basket’ feel free to make these known to the appropriate General Managers. Note: while we welcome all thoughts and suggestions, the Exec and Board will of course discuss and prioritise expenditure based on needs across the club.

Club Vehicles

The club is currently experiencing some issues with club vehicles, the ATV and 4WD. The ATV is being serviced and will be back in regular service ASAP. Options for the clubs 4WD are being considered. The Board is currently seeking advice across the club in regards options going forward.

New Defibs

The club has purchased new Defibs to support our Lifesaving services on the beach which will be in operation shortly.

Technology Committee

Under the leadership of Board Member Kim Allen, the Technology committee is reviewing and considering the clubs technology needs. From audio visual to security the Committee are working with the Club’s Executive to identify and procure resources that enhance the club.

Observation Tower

The new Lotterywest funded observation tower (like the one at City Beach) is currently progressing through the planning application process with the City of Joondalup. Construction of the Mullaloo tower will commence imminently and it is hoped the new tower will be on our beach in a few months.
