Great Results across Pool Rescue and IRB Racing

Monday, July 24th, 2017

We’ll the last month has been extremely busy for the Club, with State Championships for IRB Racing, Pool Rescue Juniors and Seniors and then last week the Australian Championships for IRB Racing. It’s been a very hectic but satisfying month for the many results we have had for the Club.

In our Pool Rescue we had a great Junior Team who competed their hearts out to win a number of medals for the Club. For many of junior competitors, it was their first state championships in this type of competition and it was great to see their smiling faces. Our Youth and Seniors competed the next day. With our small team we still managed to medal in many of the events we competed in, including a number of state champions. Thanks to all involved including our Coaches and Officials and Vicki Rasmussen who managed all our teams throughout the series and championships. Our representation also goes beyond the State with Wes Gould competing last weekend at the Queensland Pool Rescue Championships, winning a Bronze and Silver medal. Josh Clarke will also be competing at the Australian pool championships for Mullaloo and the Western Suns in August.

IRB duoOur IRB racing team have had an exceptional season, winning the State Championships and the overall IRB racing for the season, including collecting the Dave Clark shield with our team of Josh Bull and Robbie Payne. Last week, we competed at the Australian championships at Kingscliff in NSW. We had another great performance from the whole team amongst the best in Australia. With a young and developing team they worked together to achieve some great results including a number of semi-finals and two finals in the Masters events. It’s been a great seasons effort from coach Cameron Rapley and team manager Laurie deMamiel and Julie Rapley as touring coordinator as well as the many parents and supporters who helped out all season.

So, we now look forward to a bit of a break from competition until the summer series begins. Training in most areas are well underway, so our competitors continue to prepare for next season.

Bali trainingWe are now seeking expressions of interest from Mullaloo SLSC members to attend the tour. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your training skills in a challenging, yet extremely rewarding environment. Plus, you get to holiday in Bali!!

The only prerequisites to be considered for the tour are Bronze Medallion, to be a minimum of 18 years of age, and to have an interest in training.
