On Saturday 11 June 2016, Surf Life Saving Western Australia held their annual Awards of Excellence. These awards recognise the best in Western Australia in each of their categories over the past year.
This year, Mullaloo SLSC Club was recognised as the “Lavan Legal Club of the Year” as it recognised for it’s outstanding achievements in Club development that results in Clubs providing safer beaches and Aquatic environments for the community.
Mullaloo SLSC demonstrated that the services it provided to the Community and its members were outstanding, with the implementation of it tagged shark detection and mitigation system, it’s increased patrols to the North Point of Mullaloo beach resulting in more than 10,600 patrol and water safety hours to more than 210,000 visitors to the beach.
Mullaloo SLSC was also recognised for the work they have done in securing funding for the refurbishment of their Club, the strong governance and management structure within their organisation and the activities and services it provides to various external organisations.
Mullaloo SLSC President Carlo Tenaglia said “I am very proud that the efforts of our members and management group have been recognised at the highest level within Western Australia. It demonstrates the technical innovation and extended services are valued amongst our peers and the community. We are also very grateful of the generous backing from the City of Joondalup who support our many initiatives and have provided us with the opportunity to refurbish our Club. This will enable us to expand our services into the future”.
Also winning the “Assessor of the Year” category, was Anne-Marie Widermanski from Mullaloo SLSC, who was recognised for her efforts in the Education area.
The Mullaloo SLSC and Anne-Marie will now be finalists in their categories in the National awards to be recognised in October.
