Mullaloo wins SLSWA Club of the Year 2016!


On Sat­ur­day 11 June 2016, Surf Life Sav­ing West­ern Aus­tralia held their annual Awards of Excel­lence. These awards recog­nise the best in West­ern Aus­tralia in each of their cat­e­gories over the past year.

This year, Mul­laloo SLSC Club was recog­nised as the “Lavan Legal Club of the Year” as it recog­nised for it’s out­stand­ing achieve­ments in Club devel­op­ment that results in Clubs pro­vid­ing safer beaches and Aquatic envi­ron­ments for the com­mu­nity.

Mul­laloo SLSC demon­strated that the ser­vices it pro­vided to the Com­mu­nity and its mem­bers were out­stand­ing, with the imple­men­ta­tion of it tagged shark detec­tion and mit­i­ga­tion sys­tem, it’s increased patrols to the North Point of Mul­laloo beach result­ing in more than 10,600 patrol and water safety hours to more than 210,000 vis­i­tors to the beach.

Mul­laloo SLSC was also recog­nised for the work they have done in secur­ing fund­ing for the refur­bish­ment of their Club, the strong gov­er­nance and man­age­ment struc­ture within their organ­i­sa­tion and the activ­i­ties and ser­vices it pro­vides to var­i­ous exter­nal organ­i­sa­tions.

Mul­laloo SLSC Pres­i­dent Carlo Tenaglia said “I am very proud that the efforts of our mem­bers and man­age­ment group have been recog­nised at the high­est level within West­ern Aus­tralia. It demon­strates the tech­ni­cal inno­va­tion and extended ser­vices are val­ued amongst our peers and the com­mu­nity. We are also very grate­ful of the gen­er­ous back­ing from the City of Joon­dalup who sup­port our many ini­tia­tives and have pro­vided us with the oppor­tu­nity to refur­bish our Club. This will enable us to expand our ser­vices into the future”.

Also win­ning the “Asses­sor of the Year” cat­e­gory, was Anne-Marie Wider­man­ski from Mul­laloo SLSC, who was recog­nised for her efforts in the Edu­ca­tion area.
The Mul­laloo SLSC and Anne-Marie will now be final­ists in their cat­e­gories in the National awards to be recog­nised in Octo­ber.
